Programme > Airbus A380 and AéroscopiaToulouse - The heart of the aeronautics industry On Tuesday, September 6th, we propose a visit of two major sites in Toulouse: the brand new aeronautics museum Aéroscopia and the assembly line of the Airbus A380, the world's biggest passenger airliner.
In the Midi-Pyrénées region, nearly 80,000 people make a living from the aviation industry, the driving force behind the region’s economy: manufacturers, sub-contractors, suppliers, design offices, service providers among others. Between the first powered aircraft designed in secret in the town of Muret by Clément Ader, and the first flight in the skies of Blagnac of the A380, flagship of the European aviation industry, more than a century has passed. For early arrivers at ICRM2016, we propose to travel across this century with a combined visit: Aéroscopia Museum: With its unique collection, Aeroscopia is the home of a rich local aviation heritage and becomes a place of memory, creating a link between the past, the present and the future of aviation. Beyond the preservation and promotion of legendary aircraft, Aeroscopia’s mission is to pass on a culture of aviation, transmit knowledge and create an attractive and educational place to encourage scientific and technical careers. The collection of aircrafts include among others two Concorde, the rocket transportation aircraft Super Guppy, an Airbus Military A400M, and the first Airbus aircraft A300B. Airbus A380 Assembly Line: The J.L. Lagardère site is entirely dedicated to final assembly and flight preparations of the A380. It occupies an area of 50 hectares, including a 10-hectare assembly hall. The visit includes:
